The Empire State Building often lights up the top of the large building in honor of special days. The building was decorated by many colors to celebrate the Olympics in 2008. However, the building has also found itself in controversy for supporting strange holidays as well. In 2007, the building went all green in order to honor a Muslim holiday (Eid-al-Fitr). The Empire State Building found itself amid controversy once more as it “shone in red and yellow lights over New York City on Wednesday night to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the bloody communist takeover.” Click here for the full story.
